We begin the World Green Science Day celebration on December 9th each year to raise awareness of the role that science plays in societies that are peaceful and sustainable. “Green Science for and with Society” is this year’s theme for World Green Science Day. The organizers have made an effort to support crucial international scientific collaborations and bring science closer to society. Our health, economy, food security, climate, biodiversity, and people’s well-being are all interconnected. Families, the scientific community, and the general public can get together to celebrate World Green Science Day 2020 and promote Green Science for and with Society. The event will discuss contemporary issues that are crucial to the ongoing exchange of information. This celebration is one of a series that reaches out to schools, universities, the general public, the private sector, and other groups to mobilize open sciences. The goal is to improve our overall knowledge, skills, and resilience related to the engagement of people in climate change action.

The event will present current issues that are important to the ongoing information exchange and promote the tool “Quantum leap to the green actions” developed by our multidisciplinary team to engage the public in a broader sustainability mission, which offers an opportunity to impact society in general and promotes commitment to action against climate change. At the same time, we will offer the participants the possibility to be part of the International Green Science Academy Network (IGSAN).

Dr. Hashmi has secured research grants as PI and Co-PI, on a highly competitive ground with national and international organizations such as Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, COMSTECH-TWAS, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Medical Research Council (MRC) UK, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), etc besides collaboration with local and international universities. Dr. Hashmi is recipient of performance-based research award for the consecutive three years.
