Every year, on December 9th, we will celebrate World Green Science Day to raise awareness of the role that science plays in sustainable societies. This year’s World Science Day theme is “Green Science for and with Society.” The organizers have attempted to support crucial international collaborations in science and bring science closer to society. Climate, biodiversity, our economy, food security, people’s well-being, and their health are all interconnected. To commemorate World Green Science Day 2020 and to promote Green Science for and with Society, families, members of the scientific community, and the general public are all welcome to gather. The event will talk about broad current issues that are important to the ongoing information exchange and promote the tool “Quantum leap to the green actions” which is a tool developed by our multidisciplinary team to engage the public in a broader sustainability mission, which offers an opportunity to impact society in general and promotes commitment to action against climate change. At the same time, we will offer the participants the possibility to join the newly established International Green Science Academy Network (IGSAN). In order to mobilize science popularization, this celebration is one of a series that reaches out to schools, universities, the general public, and the private sector, among other groups. The goal is to improve our overall knowledge, skills, and resilience related to the engagement of people in climate change action.
The International Green Science Academy Network (IGSAN) mission is to empower individuals, especially youth, to lead in the response to biodiversity protection, green development and environmental challenges facing the globe. By establishing partnerships, we develop, implement and oversee educational programs and workshops that promote environmentally sustainable behaviors among all age groups, with a particular emphasis on University students. IGSAN is the result of the collaboration between different academic institutions across the globe. IGSAN is an initiative of the South-South Biodiversity Science Project (SSBSP) to promote biodiversity conservation and green development across the globe.
