Latin America – The highly anticipated first episode of Voices of Science: Global Dialogues aired on its premiere on March 4th, 2026. While the series is designed to bring international experts into conversation, its premiere was a powerful showcase of the very principles it was built upon, led by the show’s host and Science Engagement and Public Communication Officer of the Journal of Latin American Sciences and Culture: Prof. Yelka Aguilera.

In this inaugural dialogue, Prof. Aguilera sat down with guest expert Prof. Dr. Marco A. Cabero Z. for a deep dive into his work. Yet, as the host, she also embodied the series’ core mission: to prove that science is not just found in journals, but is something we all can take part in, question, and shape together.
Prof. Yelka’s role as host is a natural extension of her extraordinary and multidisciplinary career. With a foundation as a Licenciada in Social Communication and Journalism from the Universidad Las Condes in Santiago, Chile, she has spent decades mastering the art of connection. Her three Master’s degrees, in Marketing and Communication, Digital Marketing and E-Commerce from Universidad Cumlaude in Spain, and Higher Education from the Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca, have given her a unique, multifaceted perspective on how ideas spread and how understanding deepens.
Throughout the March 4th episode, Prof. Aguilera drew upon this rich background. Her experience as a former Director of the Copréss News Agency, a columnist for El Diario and Erbol, and an advisor in strategic communication and public relations allowed her to guide the conversation with precision, ensuring that complex topics remained accessible and relevant to a broad audience during the conversation with Prof. Dr. Cabero.
As a university professor of Universidad Privada del Valle, research tutor, and frequent speaker at International Book Fairs, Prof. Aguilera has always operated at the intersection of academia and the public sphere. Hosting Voices of Science is the culmination of this work, a platform where she can formally facilitate the global dialogue she has long promoted.
